i woke up this morning randomly ticked off about a thing so i’m going to rant for a sec don’t mind me whoops i included ms paint graphs

my biggest beef with fandom in general is that people have serious issues when it comes to interpreting the relationship of two characters. see this is how a lot of fandom die-hards seem to look at things:

the key here is that lots of people assume that when two characters have an extremely strong emotional connection, there IS NO OTHER EXPLANATION than that they’re secretly in love with each other and want to bang.

but this is really HELLA inaccurate, and we need to obliterate that way of thinking like right now so here’s a new chart.

now i realize this is a bit simplistic. a relationship can cross over from platonic to romantic, or the lines can be blurry sometimes, but the POINT IS that it is possible for two people to have an emotional connection that is 100% platonic and is just as strong as a romantic connection would be. just because a person would take a full unloading of a machine gun for another person does NOT mean they want to have sex with that person. it DOES mean that they love that person tremendously.

PLATONIC LOVE IS NOT LESS THAN ROMANTIC LOVE. it’s just different. so can we get a little more appreciation for canon friendships without having to make everything about sex thaNK

[note: this is not a post meant to bash shipping. ship what you want to and have fun with it. you think two characters have the kind of chemistry that would make a great romantic relationship? fantastic. however i’m a little grumpy about the lack of brotp fandoms as opposed to otp fandoms on tumblr because brotps are my favorite so i’m just being cranky about it bye]
